Arm Liposuction

The Australian climate allows most people to wear sleeveless tops in Summer. People who have more subcutaneous fat on their upper arms may wish to have more slender and well defined arms.

VASER liposuction of the arms provides excellent cosmetic results. VASER liposuction of female arms easily and consistently yields results that are well proportioned and without visible surgical scars.

Cosmetic Goals

The aesthetic goal of arm liposuction is for you to feel more attractive in social situations whilst wearing short sleeve clothing.Site Images / Body Image Two (small) When Dr Bernard Leung performs liposuction of the arms he can

1) improve a disproportionate appearance of the arm, while maintaining the quality of female beauty

2) allow you to feel more comfortable and less self-conscious when wearing a sleeveless blouse

3) achieve a thinner appearance of the arms when the arms are in a relaxed position alongside the torso.

Hanging Skin

The pendulous drooping flap of the skin hanging from a fat arm when it is held in a horizontal position can be virtually eliminated by VASER liposuction. By using VASER technology and the latest technique in liposculpture, an incredible amount of skin retraction can be achieved. Candidates that were previously deemed unsuitable for arm liposuction can now be treated with Vaser, avoiding the unsightly scarring that typically result from a surgical brachioplasty procedure.

Anterior Axillary Fat Pads

These are located on the chest just in front of the arm-pit. These fat pads become more prominent with age and with increasing degrees of obesity. Even in some relatively thin women, the anterior axillary fat pad can be disproportionately large. A tightly fitting bra causes the fat pads to bulge unattractively above the bra. These fat pads can be eliminated by VASER liposuction. It is often convenient to do liposuction of the anterior axillary fat pads at the same time as liposuction of the arms.

Posterior Axillary Fat Pads

These are located just behind the arm-pit on the side of the back. In some women, these fat pads can be a cosmetic problem. It is often convenient to do liposuction of the posterior axillary fat pads at the same time as liposuction of the arms. Anterior axillary and posterior axillary areas require absorptive padding for only one to two days. The absorptive pads are best held in place with a torso compression garment. Before you undertake a liposuction treatment, our staff will fit you for a compression support garment. You will be required to wear this garment for approximately a week.

What happens during a VASER liposuction procedure?

Just like in traditional liposuction, the area to be treated is filled with a special saline solution (tumescent solution). Next, a small probe transmitting ultrasound energy is used to break apart fatty tissue and to emulsify the fat cells, whilst preserving other important structures. Finally the liquefied fat is removed through a gentle suction process designed to minimise damage to surrounding tissues. When performing VASER liposuction to this area, Dr Leung is of the opinion that a thin layer of residual fat should remain to insure a natural female appearance. This also maintains the natural softness and feel of a female body which most women want as their desired outcome.

Will I see the results straight away?

An improvement is visible immediately. However, it takes several months for the final result to be obtained, due to the gradual process of the skin healing and adhering to the underlying tissue. This process is called skin retraction. The final result for arm liposuction tends to be achieved within a shorter time frame compared to treatment of the lower limbs.

Postoperative Care

Postoperative Care after liposuction of the arms is relatively simple with only a moderate degree of compression necessary for only a few days. Drainage from the arms usually lasts less than 24 hours after surgery. Postoperative improvement is rapid. Virtually every patient attains a significant degree of improvement within a few days after surgery.

Is Vaser Liposuction right for me?

For appropriate patients, the results are most gratifying. If you feel that your arms are too thick and heavy, then liposuction of the arms may be able to help you achieve that slender look. Liposuction of the arms is almost exclusively a procedure for women.
