3D Facial Rejuvenation

What is 3D Facial Rejuvenation?

There has been an increasing popularity of laser and light based treatment over the past decade. Most of these treatments only target a specific problem area within the skin and the results can be somewhat limiting.

3D Facial Rejuventation is a program of treatment, spread over several weeks. It aims to address the shortcoming of single method treatment by combining different technologies and techniques to achieve better outcome. The 3 dimensions of the treatment include:

What can 3D Facial Rejuvenation treat?

  • Rosacea and redness
  • Broken capillaries
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Brown spots and age spots
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Reduce pore size
  • Uneven texture
  • Freckles
  • Improve skin elasticity
  • Acne scarring

The physics behind Laser and light based treatments

Traditional laser or intense pulse light (IPL) treatment worked on the principle of a process called selective photothermolysis. Targets within the skin preferentially absorb light of a certain wavelength. This may be a single wavelength in the case of lasers, or across a spectrum in the case of IPL. The targets are called chromophores and in the skin, they include melanin (pigment of the skin), haemoglobin (blood in the blood vessels) and water content of the skin.

The light energy absorbed by the target is then turned into heat energy. In most instances, the target is heated up to the point of damage. The damaged target is then removed by the body’s own cleaning up mechanism. The heat generated has the additional advantage of stimulating collagen production in the skin, which in turn improves the texture.

What is the rationale behind 3D Facial Rejuvenation?

Limelight is a powerful, broad spectrum pulse light system, which is designed to target melanin and blood vessels. It has programmable wavelength which allows the system to be tuned to suit your skin type, ensuring its safety and effectiveness. It has a major advantage over older, less powerful or cheaper systems in that only 1-2 treatments are needed.

Laser Genesis targets the microscopic vessels in the dermis. It involves the use of a high powered, micropulse Nd:YAG laser. The dermis is heated up, decreasing the microscopic vessels, allowing a decrease in facial redness. This is accompanied by new collagen formation, resulting in improved skin texture and decreased pore size.

Laser resurfacing is the ultimate tool in skin rejuvenation. Confluent Pearl laser resurfacing ablates the epidermal layer of the skin, where most of the pigment and textural irregularity occurs. The end result is improved skin texture and more even skin tone.

Pearl Fractional laser resurfacing is a wonderful tool to improve collagen production in the dermis. It is particularly effective at the treatment of fine lines around the mouth, which are often deeply ingrained and difficult to treat by other methods.
